A line that rhymes sounds more true
In a 2000 study, McGlone and Tofighbakhsh showed people sayings in two versions: one that rhymed and one that said the same thing without rhyming. People rated the rhyming versions as more accurate, even though the meaning was identical. A line that is easy to say feels easier to believe, so when two phrasings say the same thing, the one with rhythm can win.
