Show a bigger number before you show your price

Students who jotted down the last two digits of their social security number before bidding on wine and gadgets let that random number steer their bids: the highest-number group offered three times or more what the lowest group did. If a meaningless figure can set what people will pay, the first number on your pricing page or in your pitch is doing the same job. Put a relevant, higher reference in front of your price, not after it.

๐Ÿ’ก Why it matters

The first number a buyer sees becomes the yardstick for every number after it, even when it has nothing to do with your offer.
